I've been thinking about how it would be possible to incorporate CEBs or mud bricks into the project both from a design standpoint and from a feasibility standpoint (will it be up to code in the area). It makes a lot of sense from a cost standpoint (although may be costly from a labor standpoint) and its definitely green.
The company I worked with in Mexico (www.echale.com.mx) built a business around them, but the question is whether any rendition of them make sense or can work here in the states outside of the SW. I came across this video from the show Renovation Nation for a project in Falls Church, VA.

Also, check out the company called sustainabledesign.com. They seem to be keen to the earth block concept and have done projects implementing them. Admittedly, they don't do urban infill, but nevertheless. http://www.sustainabledesign.com/portfolio/
